Mr Mansfield-Corbett's appointment comes within a month of Neil Martin joining the firm from PKF as Head of Financial Planning and the appointment of Sarah Godfree as office manager.

The investment has been made to drive growth in the sector - by offering a full range of services including pension, investment and inheritance tax planning.

Mr Mansfield-Corbett has more than 20 years experience in financial services with further expertise of running his own business.

He said: "I'm very happy to have joined such a prestigious North West accountancy firm. I have spent more than two decades working with private clients, SMEs and corporates to help deliver a whole range of financial planning, from personal wealth management to property and development financing." He added: "There is a great sense of excitement within our new look wealth management division because we are all determined to grow the department. We believe with our experience and passion we can offer an exceptional service."

Mitchell Charlesworth managing partner David Darlington said: "The arrival of Michael completes our strengthening programme to the wealth management division. Along with the other recent appointments of Neil and Sarah we believe the division is bigger and better than ever before.  This injection of experience and expertise gives the division even greater strength and depth. The team is now focussed on delivering a comprehensive package to protect and enhance the wealth of our clients."

Mr Darlington said the appointments also come ahead of major reform to the regulation of retail investment advice - with new rules from the FSA's Retail Distribution Review coming into play in December 2012. He added that the consolidation to the investment wing will ensure that Mitchell Charlesworth is prepared for the tightening in regulation.
