Our Corporate Finance team expects to see further consolidation in some key technology sectors through 2013.

The UK technology sector has been showing promising growth signs over the past few months, with this trend set to continue over the coming year. Forecasted increases in employment levels, revenues, and industry spending is great news for business owners and technology developers alike.

The development of cloud & mobile applications are said to be the driving force behind the sectors resurgence, with accelerating consumer demand from a wider audience boosting revenues and promoting new technologies, particularly in the North West.

The need for UK technology businesses to stay one step ahead of the competition has been a major factor on the increase of B2B spending in technology sector over the past year, with huge emphasis placed on R&D and product development. An increasing number of business owners and executives are looking towards acquisitions as a way of boosting market presence and customer base, rather than pursue organic growth, with over 60% of technology executive stating that they are looking to acquire a business within the next two years.  Sectors where we expect to see deal activity include telecoms, digital marketing, cloud computing and software applications.

In an attempt to maintain and accelerate this positive growth, the Merseyside Special Investment Fund (MSIF) has made available significant funds aimed at providing growth and development finance to small technological companies and start-ups. MSIF can provide funding of between £3,000 and £50,000 to businesses that meet the criteria. For more information on this fund please visit:
