Autumn Statement 2012 Date Announced: 5th December

The Chancellor, George Osborne, has announced that he will make his Autumn Statement to Parliament on the state of the economy on 5th December 2012.

The date was announced during Treasury questions from MPs in Parliament.

After the Budget, the Autumn Statement is often regarded as a 'mini-budget' and is seen as the second most important economic event of the parliamentary year.

The Chancellor will use the statement to update MPs and the nation on the state of the economy, growth forecasts and the public finances. Businesses will hope that George Osborne uses the occasion to outline measures to boost growth and to accelerate the UK's recovery from recession.
