Presenting the award, Tom Rigby from the North West Society of Chartered Accountants told the audience:

“The winning larger accountancy firm has embraced cutting edge technology and demonstrated customer service that really does go beyond the norm. With almost 80 per cent of new clients coming from referrals by their existing clients, it looks like they’ve got the recipe for customer service exactly right. They have impressed the judges by their significant involvement in adding value to the wider financial community. So congratulations to the Large Accountancy Firm of the Year, Mitchell Charlesworth.”

A team lead by partners Alison Lavelle and Paul Wainwright collected the award. The team represented each of Mitchell Charlesworth’s five offices in Liverpool, Manchester, Chester, Widnes and Warrington.

Miss Lavelle said:

“This is a tremendous award for the company to win,” she said. “We work immensely hard at Mitchell Charlesworth to deliver the best possible service to our clients. This is recognition for the hard work and dedication of our staff who are absolutely committed to going the extra mile for the businesses and organisations we are fortunate to represent.

Mitchell Charlesworth is one of the region’s most established accountancy firms with our roots dating back more than 125 years.  Our success has been built on a progressive approach. We value and invest in our staff, of whom well over a third have been with us for 10 years and nearly a quarter have been with us more than 20 years.

We embrace technology and this year we have invested £250,000 in our IT systems. We contribute meaningfully to the community taking on many advisory roles with organisations including R3, ICAEW, Pro Manchester, Cheshire Professionals,  the Princes Trust and Mersey Kidney Research.  We also organise and sponsor the annual Merseyside Innovation Awards. Critically customer service is paramount. Three quarters of our business comes from referral and we are always looking for ways to give added value. This includes using our clients’ services and we offer regular free seminars to give clients greater understanding and support in keys areas of finance.”
