The business, which is based in the Birkdale area of the town, was founded by father and son team John and James Maddocks.

Radwraps has created a magnetic sheet onto which any image or design can be printed onto and this can then be attached to a radiator without the need for screws or adhesives without impacting the effectiveness of the radiator.

The founders came up with the concept for the business whilst redecorating.

James Maddocks said: "We looked into radiator cabinets but they can absorb up to 60 per cent of the heat from your radiator, making them really inefficient. Despite extensive research we could not find an alternative product so we decided to design one ourselves.

"After testing a range of materials and designs, including a design modelled on a roller blind, we came up with Radwraps, a magnetic sheet which can be manufactured in any size or shape and fitted without any DIY knowledge."

Radwraps were presented with their award by Sue Roberts of sponsor Village Software Engineering.

"This is such an easy and cost-effective solution for transforming something ugly into something fun," she added. The options are limitless and Radwraps are now well placed to make the most of their expanding market."

The 2014 Merseyside Innovation Awards are now in their 19th year. A winner is selected each month and at the end of the entry period the applicants are whittled down to three finalists who will be invited to give a presentation to the judges at the final talking place at the Crowne Plaza, Liverpool in July.

The winner will receive a prize of £10,000 in cash while the runners-up can win specialist business support worth up to £2,000.
