Because of Lorraine’s professional work with Leon Osman, and also being a big Everton fan, she was invited to join the Committee. The committee brings together volunteers who are experts in accountancy, law and other professions who oversee the testimonial activities throughout the year. Its role is to ensure everything runs smoothly and that the beneficiaries receive their due donations.

She said: “Leon Osman has played with Everton for ten years and his testimonial year began in April 2014. I have worked with Leon for most of that time and it’s great to be involved in this special year. It’s fascinating work and great to meet people from across the football industry.

“I’ve even been lucky enough to  work with the matchday sponsors and Trinity Mirror, publishers of the Liverpool Echo, on Leon’s testimonial match day programme.”

A testimonial golf day was held at Formby Golf Club in April this year and Leon’s testimonial match was at Goodison Park on August 3 against FC Porto.

Another North West based event will be a charity dinner on 1st November 2014, which is a black tie event at the Titanic Hotel and Rum Warehouse. Tickets are still available and tables of ten are just £750. For more information, send an e-mail to:  Alternatively you can download the flyer here. The London-based Everton supporters club are also planning a testimonial dinner for 2015.

Lorraine added: “One of my specialist accountancy areas is working with sports people and entertainers. I’ve managed the accounts and tax affairs for a number of footballers and football managers at various clubs, along with some rugby players and a former snooker player and tv personalities. Much of this work comes from recommendations and I enjoy every minute.”

Leon Osman, born near Wigan, has risen through the ranks at Everton. His links with Goodison Park started as a young academy player. After spells at Carlisle United and Derby County, he got his first taste of senior action at Everton in the 2002/03 season.

He became a first-team regular in 2004/05 and was then rewarded with a long-term contract. He played in every league game last season (2013/14), highlighting his importance to the club. His Everton contract runs until June 2015.
