Seminar - planning for the new 50% tax rate

In April 2009 the Chancellor announced that a new 50% tax rate would be introduced for individuals with income over £150k a year, together with the staggered reduction of the personal allowance for those with income over £100k. In addition, new rules will be implemented changing the levels of tax relief on pension contributions made by high earners. The new provisions will take effect from April 2010.

In the light of these changes we have decided to run a series of seminars explaining the impact of the new rules and exploring ways in which the 50% rate may be mitigated. The seminar will look at what can be done now together with suggestions on how your financial affairs may be structured in the most tax efficient way going forward.

Tim Adcock, one of our partners who specialises in tax planning for businesses and individuals, will present an overview of the new provisions, together with planning opportunities, which we hope will be informative and provide food for thought. Graham Oakes, a member of our Wealth Management team, will also talk about tailored investment strategies to reduce overall tax liabilities together with comment on the changing role of pensions.
