Date: 9 June 2009

A FORMER graduate trainee at North West based chartered accountants and business advisors Mitchell Charlesworth has been promoted to partner.

Richard Johnson, from St Helens, joined Mitchell Charlesworth in September 1996 on a three year contract after graduating in Maths from Warwick University.

The 34-year-old, who qualified as a chartered accountant in December 1999, has a portfolio of audit and general practice clients, ranging from owner managed SME’s to large corporate groups and incorporates a particular specialism acting for professional practice clients. Corporate finance also forms a significant element of Richard’s role advising on the acquisition and sale of private companies, strategic and financial planning and business valuations.

Clive Plummer, Mitchell Charlesworth’s chairman, said: “Since qualifying, Richard has been held in increasingly high regard by both clients and colleagues, this appointment marking that success.

“On behalf of everyone at Mitchell Charlesworth I congratulate Richard and look forward to him playing an important role in the firm’s growth.”

Richard, a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), is now one of 17 partners at Mitchell Charlesworth, which has offices in Liverpool, Manchester, Chester, Warrington and Widnes.

Richard added: “This appointment is the start of the next stage in my career and my goal now is to expand my client portfolio, whilst continuing to develop the Mitchell Charlesworth brand.”
