York Housing Association appoints Mitchell Charlesworth
Date: 13 January 2009
YORK HOUSING Association has appointed a leading chartered accountancy firm to its panel of specialist advisors.
Mitchell Charlesworth Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors, which has five offices throughout the North West in Liverpool, Manchester, Warrington, Chester and Widnes, beat off tough competition from five other firms to win a five year contract to provide external audit services to the association.
York Housing Association was established in 1964 and currently owns over 500 properties in the Yorkshire and Humber region, providing over 700 families with affordable housing.
Its housing is a mixture of general needs accommodation for single people, couples and families, sheltered housing accommodation for older people and supported housing for vulnerable people with support needs, people with mental ill health and people with learning disabilities.
Paul Wainwright, a partner at Mitchell Charlesworth and Howard Priestley, audit director at the firm, will also provide external audit services to Tuke Housing Association, the majority of whose stock is managed by York Housing Association.
Paul Wainwright said: “The appointment as external auditors to York Housing Association highlights Mitchell Charlesworth’s commitment to the housing sector and further demonstrates the firm’s expertise and experience.”
Mitchell Charlesworth’s specialist housing team currently acts for over 50 housing associations throughout the UK. The firm specialises in external audit, business assurance, business plan validations, due diligence work, finance raising, taxation, accountancy and service charge work.
