Paul’s an award-winning accountant
Date: 17 September 2007
NORTH West accountant Paul Booth has become one of the first in the country to receive a prestigious new charity sector qualification.
Paul, a partner at Mitchell Charlesworth Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors, has been awarded the new Diploma in Charity Accounting from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
The 41-year-old, who has more than 20 years experience of dealing with charities, was among the first ever 57 accountants across the country to secure the coveted accolade after demonstrating his depth of experience and knowledge at a top level.
Paul, from Stalybridge, had to prove his experience as a senior professional in charity accounting and financial management, covering several topics, including voluntary sector policy and financial management, audit and taxation, as well as marketing and fundraising.
Commenting on his success, Paul said: “The diploma is a top award in the charity accounting sector, which not only recognises my personal experience but also the firm’s standing in the charity sector.
“The charity sector has become much more professional in recent years and it is essential that those that work with charities in the accounting field match that new professionalism. This award means that any charity or not-for-profit organisation will now know that we are qualified and have the knowledge and expertise to provide services of the highest standard.”
Mitchell Charlesworth’s charities team provides audit, accountancy and taxation services, acts on charity mergers and due diligence, and also gives advice on strategic and governance matters, VAT and other tax planning issues.
