Paul passes prestigious insolvency exam

Date: 23 March 2009

AN accountant at North West firm Mitchell Charlesworth has passed the insolvency profession’s most prestigious qualification.

Paul Palmer, who joined Mitchell Charlesworth’s Corporate Recovery & Insolvency team in August 2006 and is based at the firm’s Brazennose Street offices in Manchester, has passed the Joint Insolvency Examination Board (JIEB) exam.

Paul, from Stalybridge, had to complete months of study and pass three tough JIEB exams to receive his Insolvency Practitioner status. As a pass student Paul also receives automatic membership of INSOL International (International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Professionals).

Jeremy Oddie, head of Mitchell Charlesworth’s Corporate Recovery & Insolvency team, said: “Paul has had to display an enormous amount of determination and commitment, not only to studying but to his wife and four children, to pass the Joint Insolvency Examination, which has always been a severe test of candidates’ knowledge of insolvency law and practice.

“By passing the JIEB examinations Paul has become a fully-fledged member of the profession. Everyone at Mitchell Charlesworth is extremely proud of Paul and would like to congratulate him on his achievement.”

Paul is set to receive his certificate at a presentation ceremony staged at the British Medical Association in London on June 26, 2009.
