Brief History
Mitchell Charlesworth Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors has offices in Liverpool, Manchester, Warrington, Chester and Widnes.
In 1885 Charles Hackett Mitchell commenced practice in Liverpool. He was joined in 1910 by Bernard Orton Bunting and the firm continued as Mitchell & Bunting for many years at 27 Lord Street, Liverpool.
During the ensuing years there have been a number of mergers with other local firms and subsequent to one of those mergers in 1976 the name was changed to Mitchell Charlesworth.
In 1989 the Manchester office was added and Geoffrey Weisgard joined the partnership.
The firm is now one of the largest locally based practices of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors in the North West with 16 partners and over 160 staff.
In spite of the considerable growth of the firm over the years, we maintain a policy of personal service to clients and a genuine interest in their affairs.

Experience
As we are based in the North West of England, it is natural that a considerable number of our clients are similarly located. However, we do act for clients in many other parts of the country and also for a number who are now resident outside the United Kingdom.
Numerous business activities are covered including - sugar, tanning, chemicals, shipping and forwarding, oil distribution, hotels, stores and shops (large and small), car dealers, tyres and parts merchants, farming and farm suppliers, engineering, manufacturing and service industries, housing associations and professional firms including architects, chartered surveyors, solicitors, doctors, estate agents, brokers and chemists.
The firm provides financial, taxation and business advice to both individuals and companies.

Standards
The point of contact for all practice clients is the partner who will oversee any work carried out on his clients. The choice of firms is wide, and finding a firm who are able to deal with their clients in a friendly and professional manner is important.
The practice carries out a structured training programme for all the partners and staff to ensure that they are up to date with current legislation and practice, as well as accounting and auditing standards, taxation, business methods and modern technology.
