The Conservative Party have pledged to review the ‘Off Payroll’/IR35 Rules as part of their manifesto to support self employed workers.
The Chancellor Sajid Javid confirmed on 2nd December that the party will review the proposal to extend the IR35 proposals to the private sector. The other main political parties have also pledged to review the proposals.
As we reported in October, if the Rules come into force there is the potential for dramatically increased costs for both private sector businesses and personal service companies (PSCs), and whilst there are varying degrees of uncertainty as to whether the Rules will come into effect, businesses both large and small should be prepared for the changes, which could come into force as early as 6 April 2020.
