Mitchell Charlesworth Appoint Senior Personal Tax Manager

Mitchell Charlesworth have appointed a senior personal tax manager boosting its expert tax team.

Latha Rodgers will be responsible for leading on personal tax across the partnership providing a broad range of advice, including income and corporation tax, stamp duty land tax, inheritance tax and will planning.

Mitchell Charesworth’s tax team spans across the firm’s five offices in Manchester, Liverpool, Chester, Warrington and Widnes.

Mitchell Charlesworth tax partner Tim Adcock said Mrs Rodgers brings formidable skill and experience as a former Forbes Dawson, KPMG and Grant Thornton tax specialist.

“Tax remains a highly complex area for business owners to navigate,” said Mr Adcock. “The fundamental point is that each year thousands of people in the UK are paying more tax than they need to. Each different type of tax comes with its own complex set of rules and requirements, and personal tax is no exception. Our advisors are all experts in specific areas of tax, and their technical insight and knowledge allows them to work with a wide range of individuals and business owners to reduce overall tax exposure to UK and international tax systems.

“We welcome Latha to the team as we continue to expand and drive momentum. This move reinforces one of our strongest key selling points – providing clients greater value for money in terms of range and depth of specialist advice. We also benefit from one of the most experienced tax teams in the region.”

Mrs Rodgers said she was attracted to Mitchell Charlesworth because of the firm’s varied client portfolio and ambitious outlook.

“Mitchell Charlesworth has a vision to drive turnover to £10m by 2020 and become the top SME (small and medium sized enterprise) advisor in the North West of England,” she said. “I was impressed by the firm’s desire for expansion and the opportunity to work with such a broad variety of clients across the firm’s five offices. When I met with the team I was also struck by their strong commercial sense as well as their personable approach.

“There are numerous opportunities to add value to clients within all areas of tax and I will be delivering a proactive service. Due to the current complicated tax legislation, even the simplest of cases can benefit significantly from a fresh review and tax advice. This applies to individuals, trusts, estates and corporate structures.

“My experience in advising high-net worth individuals (both resident in the UK and non resident), SMEs, owner-managed business and overseas structures allows me to support Mitchell Charlesworth’s clients across a broad spectrum outside the regular annual income tax returns. This includes areas such as emigration, succession planning, Entrepreneurs’ relief and incorporation relief.”
