The Prime Minister has today announced financial support for businesses, charities and public sector organisations through the current energy crisis.
The PM has confirmed that they will receive the ‘equivalent support’ for the next 6 months as that offered to domestic energy users. The measures will come into effect on 1 October 2022 for a period of 6 months, and will be reviewed every 3 months thereafter, with a particular focus on ‘vulnerable sectors’. Businesses will see their energy costs capped at the same price per unit – or kilowatt hour (kWh) – that households will pay under the government’s new plans.
Domestic energy users will pay no more than £2,500 per year for their energy usage, in addition to the previously announced £400 Energy Bill Support Scheme. This will be fixed until October 2024.
Further details will not be announced until later this month during the Chancellor of the Exchequer’s fiscal statement.
