Sale Sports Club appoints accountancy firm Mitchell Charlesworth
Community sports hub and charity Sale Sports Club has selected Manchester accountancy firm Mitchell Charlesworth to provide a range of financial and business advice services.
Following a tender process, Mitchell Charlesworth was chosen to support the club with a range of specialist advice, including charity advice, accounting, payroll, tax and VAT services.
Founded in 1854, Sale Sports Club has long been an important sporting and community facility in the Trafford area.
Last month, plans to redevelop the club were unanimously approved by Trafford Council. The scheme, developed with the support of Sport England, the England & Wales Cricket Board and the Lawn Tennis Association, will see the construction of a 2-storey community clubhouse and pavilion on the site of the existing sports pavilion, together with improvements to the club’s tennis facilities. A partnership with Hales & Brown will help fund the redevelopment through the sale of surplus land for new local housing. Construction is expected to start in the Spring and be completed before the end of the year.
Mitchell Charlesworth was recommended to us by one of our members who had worked with them in the not-for-profit sector. They are providing a range of services to help the club be established as a community benefit society with charitable status and they clearly have significant knowledge and expertise in this area that should serve us well in the future. We look forward to working with their team to help us develop the business successfully over the critical years ahead.
Commenting on the appointment, Mitchell Charlesworth partner Alison Buckley said: “We are delighted to have been appointed by Sale Sports Club at such an exciting time for the organisation. This appointment provides us with an opportunity to share the expertise we have acquired from working within the charity sector for many years. We look forward to working with the club as it invests in new facilities and adapts to the growth the redevelopment will bring. We are supporting the club in a number of key areas including implementing a new cloud-based software package which will assist with financial reporting.”
Mitchell Charlesworth has a strong track record and reputation in the charity and not-for-profit sector advising more than fifty registered charities across the North West.
