Mitchell Charlesworth compete in 7th annual Peel Dragon Boat Race
Represented by members of our Wealth Management, Audit & Accounts and Administrative teams, Mitchell Charlesworth joined other local businesses to battle it out at Peel Ports’ 7th Annual Dragon Boat race on Thursday 10th September 2017 at Princes Dock, Liverpool.
The team, powered through the water to the strains of the Hawaii 5-0 theme tune to finish in a respectable fifth place from 15 teams.
Funds raised from the event went to Peel’s chosen charities, Alder Hey Childrens Hospital and Claire House. Special thanks to Malmaison Hotel plus Bean Coffee for the much needed sustenance throughout the afternoon.
Profits of NW Housing Conference donated to Crisis
Crisis, the national charity for homeless people, has received a £3,000 donation from the organisers of the North West Housing Conference, accountancy firm Mitchell Charlesworth and law firm Brabners.
Crisis helps thousands of homeless people rebuild their lives through housing, health, education and employment services. It offers support, advice and classes in 12 locations across the UK, including a Skylight centre in Merseyside.
This donation comes from the profits raised by the conference and will go towards Crisis classes, workshops and activities in the Merseyside area.
Mitchell Charlesworth and Brabners hosted the conference with financial and tactical support from a project group made up of For Viva, Liverpool Mutual Homes, Onward Housing Group, The Regenda Group and The SLH Group.
The North West Housing Conference was held towards the end of 2016 at Liverpool BT Convention Centre and attracted over 140 delegates who heard from a range of experts on issues including home ownership and how to solve the housing crisis. The keynote speakers were Derek Long, director of housing and data consultancy arc4, Gill Payne, director of policy and external affairs at the National Housing Federation, Paul Smee, director general of the Council of Mortgage Lenders, Julie Fadden, chief executive of The SLH Group and Chris Hancock, head of housing at Crisis.
Mitchell Charlesworth appointments and promotions round up
Mitchell Charlesworth have made two new appointments and three appointments over the summer period.
Chris McEnaney has been appointed assistant manager in the audit and accounts team in the Liverpool office. He gained a degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of Salford in 2005 and completed an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification in 2013. Chris has experience of both financial and management reporting having worked in practice and industry. At Mitchell Charlesworth Chris provides audit and accounts services to a mixed portfolio of businesses and is involved in the rollout of cloud accounting software Xero to clients in the Liverpool office.
Anne Griffiths has joined the firm as PR Manager. A specialist in PR and communications, Anne has more than 15 years’ professional services marketing experience having previously worked in the legal, property and accountancy sectors.
Sarah Guppy has been promoted to audit and accounts assistant manager in the Liverpool office. She completed her formal ACA training in December 2015. Sarah has specialist knowledge of Solicitors’ Accounts Rules and manages the audits of many of the firm’s large legal client portfolio, along with a number of the firm’s smaller limited companies.
Newly promoted to audit and accounts assistant manager in the Widnes office is Mike Faragher, who joined Mitchell Charlesworth in 2008. Mike provides audit and accounts services to a mixed portfolio of clients, ranging from sole traders and partnerships to small and medium sized enterprises.
Chris Nanson, who works in the Warrington office, has also been promoted to audit and accounts assistant manager after three years’ service. Chris, has an Accounts and Financial Management degree from Sheffield Hallam University and completed an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification in 2011. Chris manages a wide range of audits and accounts within the Warrington office portfolio, including a variety of charities and owner managed companies.
