Welcome to Strength in Numbers Autumn 2017

May I wish you all a warm welcome to our first edition of Strength in Numbers, which is our new publication bringing together timely news and updates covering topics relevant to the everyday concerns of businesses and individuals alike. As this is our first edition, we thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to shine the spotlight onto our friendly staff and give them pride of place on the front cover! Even our newest members of staff have got on board - you can read about our latest appointments and promotions to the MC team within our MC News section.

As always, Mitchell Charlesworth draw upon our knowledge, full range of sector specialisms and broad range of services to support our clients. We are more than just your accountants, and indeed we are noticing an increased demand for our Wealth Management and Corporate Finance offerings. With interest rates delivering pretty much zero returns, we are noticing investors looking to diversify and explore other investment opportunities. Demand is also on the rise for our Payroll services, due in no small part to the increasing complexity surrounding payroll and pensions legislation. You will find articles inside this edition from all of our specialist services, including a back to basics review of VAT from our Director of VAT Alison Birch. Alison recently travelled to Dubai, to speak at a conference organised by our Kreston International colleagues Awni Farsakh & Co as a result of VAT being introduced to UAE on 1 January 2018.

We would also invite our clients and contacts to take advantage of our free business insurance cover check, especially in light of the increasing attention and scrutiny on data security and management. This will come under the spotlight even further with the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulations which become law from May next year, irrespective of Brexit, and we have provided an outline of the upcoming changes to how companies must acquire, retain and use customer data.

We were recently awarded Xero ‘Platinum Partner’ status, which is the very highest status level based upon our knowledge and expertise. The team have qualified as Xero Platinum Partners having committed over 500 clients to Xero’s ground-breaking accounting software system, supported by a specially trained team to assist our clients using Xero. You can read how Xero can help you and your business in this edition.

As always, our priority is the success of our clients and we hope that you find the articles in this first edition interesting and of practical use. We look forward to providing you with this bulletin in the future, to keep you up to speed with informative articles on all aspects of the services we offer to both businesses and individuals.
