From 1 April 2020, the government is increasing both the National Minimum and National Living Wage rates.
The national living wage is set to rise by 6.2% and takes hourly pay for people over 25 to £8.72.
Younger workers are paid the national minimum wage and will see their hourly pay increase by 6.5% to £8.20 for 21-to-24-year-olds. For 18 to 20-year-olds pay is up 4.9% to £6.45 an hour; for under-18s it is up 4.6% to £4.55 an hour; and for apprentices it rises by 6.4% to £4.15 an hour.

Businesses should review their current records and adjust accordingly to ensure the correct wage is being paid.
