Xero Cloud Accounting

What is Xero?

Xero is online, cloud based accountancy software, meaning that it is accesssed using the internet.  Accounting data is securely stored on third party servers known as ‘the Cloud’.  This means that accounting data can be accessed anywhere, at any time of day, from multiple devices, and by multiple users.  It removes the barriers to traditional accountancy methods by allowing accountants and businesses to stay connected and share data in a fast, efficient way.  Mitchell Charlesworth are Platinum Partners with leading accountancy software provider Xero, and we would recommend Xero to all clients.

Do I need Xero?

At the Spring Budget In 2015, the Government announced their vision of ‘Making Tax Digital’.  The project started with Making Tax Digital for VAT which commenced on 1 April 2019.  All VAT registered businesses are now required to submit VAT returns using functional compatible software.

This will be extended to self employed businesses and landlords with turnover of more than £50,000 per annum from 6 April 2026, and then to self employed businesses and landlords with turnover of more than £30,000 from 6 April 2027.

Xero is a leader in providing compatible accounting software to meet the above requirements.  In addition, Xero will improve the efficiency of your internal finance functions, thereby allowing staff to focus on other areas of your business to facilitate growth.  It is also beneficial from a security perspective, it will eliminate the need to email confidential documents, or storing on an insecure USB stick, your data is also backed up automatically and stored on the Cloud.
